The BLOSCARS
The end is near, and the awards are upon us. I'm excited to see who the winner of the "People's Choice Award" shall be, because there are several classmates who've created some truly great blogs! I loved reading "Lester's Lessons", Olivia's blog was always enjoyable because her thoughts flow seamlessly across the page, and every time Casey wrote about poetry it made me want to love poetry (Even though I still don't, yet.). The blogs in this class were creative and a pleasure to read.
If I’m being honest, and I will be, blogging this semester was a challenge. I struggled to find my voice in composing a professional blog; should this sound like an academic paper, a conversation, some mix of the two? Even though I knew it should sound like some mix of the two I wasn’t entirely sure of how to accomplish that and some of my blogs sound really awkward and I occasionally rambled. However, as challenging as it was, it was also enjoyable.
I wasn’t too fond of any of my blogs but for the sake of the BLOSCARS here are my selections for…
1. Professionalism-
Technology
in the Classroom (thinkwritespeakit.blogspot.com)- I chose this blog for
professionalism because it was my first post and before I became too casual
with my language. I think this could actually be one of, if not, my worst blog
posts but I feel like the others are more casual and slightly awkward.
2. Design-
The
Reading Writer (thinkwritespeakit.blogspot.com)- Honestly, the reason I chose
this one for design is the picture I added of my own books. I decided to grab
several of my most favorite books to show the diversity in my reading interests
and I just really like that picture.
3. and
4. Creativity and Civic Engagement- Creating
Multimodal Compositions (thinkwritespeakit.blogspot.com)- I had to pick the
mini multimodal composition blog for creativity and civic engagement mainly because
I’m really proud of how my timeline turned out. It legitimately has nothing to
do with the blog itself, just the timeline. I’m not typically a very creative
person so I think my timeline is beyond anything I thought I would be capable of
creating due to the incorporation of relative information alongside details from
the book it’s based on. I also chose this for civic engagement because, had it
been a complete timeline of the book, I would have ended it with a call to
action.

A Brief History of the Oscars - YouTube
Hi Kelly! Firstly, congratulations on winning the award for professionalism! I have to agree, your blog posts are always so concise and offer so many connections to the course readings where in some other cases, like me, a reading is simply mentioned and a short analysis follows. You fully immersed your posts in the materials and it pays off. I also really like your links in this post on the Oscars history - very informative! Great work!
